As you probably know, the Asus ZenFone Max series is known for its affordable price and long battery life. Recently, I have mastered the latest ZenFone Max M2 mid-range smartphone. The following is my review of the Asus ZenFone Max M2, we will discuss my experience and my thoughts here. Unlike ZenFone Max Pro, ZenFone Max uses a slim metal body design to provide a quality feel. Although it doesn’t look as beautiful as the ZenFone Max Pro’s glass body, the metal body attracts fewer fingerprints and is comfortable to hold. The model I got was Midnight Black, and there were two other colors, including Space Blue and Meteor Silver.
The device uses an enhanced 6.3-inch full-screen HD + display (with a notch at the top), and the screen-to-body ratio is up to 88%. Like most other large-screen smartphones, ZenFone Max places its fingerprint sensor on the back, while the dual-lens rear camera is in the left corner. Considering that it is a mid-range smartphone, the overall performance of ZenFone Max is quite good. It powers the Snapdragon 632 processor and the Adreno 506 GPU, as well as 4 GB of RAM. Its internal storage is initially 32GB, but if you need more space to store your favorite mobile games, you can expand it to 2TB with an SD card.
You can expect a great photographic experience with ZenFone Max as it is equipped with a dual rear camera with 13MP f1.8 large aperture lens + 2 million bokeh lenses. In bright conditions, the image quality is clear and detailed, but the performance of the camera in low light conditions is sufficient. Smartphones will get AI scene detection in the near future to optimize their shooting.
I personally like the audio performance of ZenFone Max. This smartphone uses a five-magnet speaker with a metal voice coil, powered by a powerful low-distortion NXP smart amplifier, providing loud and clear sound. Playing PUBG Mobile feels more immersive, especially when shooting weapons. Plus, it has a 4000 mAh large-capacity battery, allowing you to play for hours without charging. It also supports fast charging! ZenFone Max is a very good mobile gaming device. I tried the popular PUBG Mobile, Identity V, Cyber Hunter and recently released Revolve 8. Well, you can’t expect your phone to run these games with the highest graphics settings, but as the game runs smoothly on the device, you can still get a pleasant gaming experience.
By running Cyber Hunter for 30 minutes, the battery power dropped by only 9%, which is the result we expected. The phone will not be too hot during the game. However, it doesn’t support 5GHz WiFi connections, so pinging in-game can be a bit disappointing. In short, the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 is a good smartphone that offers features that match its mid-range price. The device is only priced at RMB699, with great specs and decent gaming performance. If you want to have a new smartphone but are on a budget, you should consider this.
